| The ingredients in my basic henna paste are as follows: Highest quality red henna powder Lemon juice Dextrose-based artificial sweetener Aromatherapy-grade tea tree essential oil Aromatherapy-grade cardamom essential oil If you are allergic or sensitive to any of these ingredients, I would discourage you from having henna applied, or ask that you tell me so I may mix a paste without the ingredient that irritates you. If you do not know if you are sensitive to essential oils, are you sensitive to strong soaps, perfume, or household cleaners? If so, you may be sensitive to essential oils. If not, great! G6PD Deficiency: I will not henna children under 6 years of age who have/have had jaundice or anyone with a medical condition known as G6PD Deficiency. In these extremely rare cases, henna can cause blood to hemolize. If you would like your child to have henna, you must inform me if he/she has had jaundice. Children in General: Little kids have a short attention span. In my experience, children 8 and under can ruin a henna design in the blink of an eye - by wiggling during application or by smearing the paste. Unless you are positive your child can hold still long enough for the henna to be applied and not to destroy the paste once it's on, I suggest another form of fun body art such as glitter tattoos, latex body paint, or bindis/gems (which I provide along with henna). Natural henna is one of the safest things you can put on your body. It strengthens both skin and hair, is a natural sunblock, and is an absolutely beautiful, exotic artform. However, if you have one of the sensitivities described above, it may not be for you. If in doubt, ask me! |
